Beyond Borders

Project HERO:
 Helping Everyone Reach Opportunity

The Dominican Republic is a precious but struggling nation that has been ravaged by substance abuse and prejudice. The members of Beyond Borders refuse to ignore their needs and believe that through the humanitarian, musical, artistic and educational goals of their program will bring us one step closer to the healing of our goal.

Beyond Borders Project: HERO aims to send a group of Berklee students each year to the Dominican Republic during spring break to host a week long music camp in the town of Monte Cristi.
Each year team HERO will develop a fun and unique curriculum that will cover music theory, improvisation, global music history, and solfege. Members of Beyond Borders will also be training long-term music teachers in Monte Cristi in hopes of leaving  the town of Monte Cristi with a music program lead by local musicians offering weekly choral and percussive ensembles to students.
