Why music? 

      Music provides us with self-discipline, self-esteem, creativity and positive form of expression these virtues are all component to an individuals development that is why it is important for students and people in general to have access to a music education . Students participating in music have shown the lowest rate of substance use, according to the Texas Drug and Alcohol commission, and as Ted Turner notes “Music has a great power for …[helping] us experience our common humanity.”  Music also greatly aids cognitive development. The College Exam Board found secondary students in music increased their SAT scores by a 50-point average.  These statistics prove to show that music is an important aspect  to human development and should be an important component of everyday life. The students in the Dominican Republic could benefit greatly out of having a music program.
